Review Process

Evaluation Process

The evaluation process of manuscripts submitted to the Brazilian Journal of Health and Pharmacy adheres to the Instructions for the Authors.

Full or partial submission of the manuscript to any other journal is prohibited. The Authors are solely responsible for the content of the articles.

The evaluation of the manuscript goes through three stages:

1) Preliminary evaluation of the form by the administrative secretary: when submitted, it is verified that the manuscript follows the requirements presented in the Instructions for the Authors. If all requirements are met, the manuscript goes to the second stage. Otherwise, it returns to the Authors who have up to 15 days for adjustments and resubmission on the platform. If they do not send it within this period, the submission will be considered a new submission.

2) Peer review: once the Editorial Committee has verified the suitability to the scope of the journal, the manuscript is sent to at least two (2) Reviewers. The opinions of the Reviewers are appreciated by the Editorial Committee and the initial outcome (opinion 1) is sent to the Authors to review the manuscript, when necessary.  At this stage, the manuscript can be accepted without changes, accepted subject to modifications (majors or minors) or not accepted.

3) Review by the Authors and final opinion of the Editorial Committee: the accepted manuscript subject to modifications must be reviewed by the Authors and sent, together with the reply letter to the opinions of the Reviewers, by the corresponding author within 20 to 90 days, according to the definition of the Editorial Committee. From these documents, the Editorial Committee defines the final opinion, which can be accepted or not. The extension of the deadline may be requested by the author, if he deems it necessary in case of a major revision request. If the deadline is not met, the submission process will be cancelled.

At the end of the process, the average time between submission and acceptance will be 45 to 120 days. Some delays may occur due to the processing time. Recess periods of activities by the editorial team will be informed at the time of submission, if any.
