Scientific articles submitted to the BJHP are reviewed by at least 2 (two) ad hoc reviewers in a single-blind review process, in which the reviewers’ identities are kept confidential from the authors. Reviewers must hold at least a master’s degree, have experience with scientific publication, and possess recognized expertise in the fields and topics related to the manuscript’s subject matter. In the event of conflicting opinions or when the associate editor in charge deems it necessary, a third reviewer may be appointed.

Technical notes submitted to BJHP are reviewed by at least one (1) ad hoc reviewer with knowledge and experience relevant to the topic. At the discretion of the responsible associate editor, a second reviewer may be appointed, particularly in cases of greater technical complexity, the need for additional specialized evaluation, differences of opinion, or doubts regarding the robustness of the recommendations presented.

BJHP will prioritize the appointment of external reviewers who have no institutional affiliation with the authors of the manuscript under review. By accepting the invitation to review, reviewers declare the absence of any conflicts of interest that could compromise their impartiality and commit to maintaining confidentiality and discretion regarding the content of the manuscript under review.

Reviewers must be registered in the Lattes Curriculum, have an ORCID number, and possess qualifications compatible with the nature and subject matter of the work under review, in accordance with BJHP’s editorial guidelines and the principles of ethics, confidentiality, impartiality, and integrity in peer review.
